Quick reminder that this Sunday, April 7 at 10am-1pm PT / 1pm-4pm ET I’m running my class, Memoir & Consent. In this three-hour seminar, we will cover ethical and personal questions related to writing about family, loved ones, and real people, as well as craft strategies for how to protect ourselves and others. The session will include an open Q&A so you can get specific questions about your projects answered.

Last week, I shared that I’ve been feeling a bit depleted and am longing to move into a slower, roomier creative period. My kids are on spring break this week and I’m still working against a deadline, but the disruption in our routine at home and the holiday weekend have encouraged me to reset and tap into some creative recovery. That means different things to me at different times, but right now it looks like lots of time outside watching my kids fly kites, holding tiny sticky hands, pulling weeds, puttering around the house, paging through books, sleeping in, making
’s pink lemonade Bundt cake, and running. What are your favorite methods for creative recovery? How do you reconnect with yourself and your writing, or just recoup after periods of hustle?
If you need extra help with creative recovery, organizing essay ideas, a budding book project, or general mentoring, I have a few spots left in my Care for Writers program this spring. I’ll be your literary mom for one month, which includes 1-1 meetings with me weekly, as well as personalized writing prompts, reading recommendations, and other resources.
(If you don’t see a time that works for you when selecting your first meeting, message me.)
If you’re interested in developmental editing or manuscript consultations, fill out this inquiry form. I have a limited number of spots available for spring and summer.
