Coming to this way late, but I agree - Barbieland is not the utopia feminists would design, it's a girlhood fantasy where sex & violence are unknown, anything is possible, and boys are irrelevant.
I think so many male viewers couldn't understand this is a coming of age narrative, but told by and for women.
