Marked every episode of these “Mad Woman” opportunities next week & am hoping to become more intentional with my writing instead of reactive to the plethora of crazies vying to insert themselves into government.

Hi there! I am exciting to participate in the writing groups next week. How do I join?

Just be sure you have upgraded to a founding-tier subscription by Monday morning. All the event links will be sent out Monday morning, too. Glad you can join!

Thank you!

Looking back at my spring intentions, I mostly achieved those, which feels great! My intention had been to finally publish some pieces I had been working on for a while on my Substack, which I did. And then to get back into a regular publishing schedule, which...if not a regular schedule, I've maintained a more frequent output. I'm feeling a little daunted by getting back on schedule next year.

Right now I am working on an essay about, among other things: Fandom, early 2000s websites, and when a fictional character and the actor portraying them merge together in ways that are tragic and fascinating.

That's fantastic, Maddie!

Congrats on your huge milestone! What a nice cherry to put atop that pie (though would that be a weird flavor combo?)

I'm bouncing between this Substack project, my paid consulting work, and a few different essays that I'm hoping will become the foundation for a book on mindfulness, feminism, caregiving and trauma recovery. Will definitely put Dec 11 on my calendar - what a great opportunity to come together with other folks who care about these themes.

Thanks for all that you do to inspire and organize this community!

Need help with the subscription. I am a monthly member but would like to upgrade to annual during this sale. It won’t let me. Any suggestions?

Hi, I want to gift my friend a membership to your writing group. How to do this?

Expand full comment

I love that idea!

So, Substack doesn't currently allow you to purchase a gift subscription for founding-level plans (which is what the Writing Group is). But, there is a workaround: You can subscribe to the Writing Group with your friend's email and just use your own payment information for their account. (You'll need to log out of your own Substack account to do this, and create an account for your friend, which is pretty quick and easy. Your friend can then change the method of payment in their account later.)

Or, you can gift them a regular paid subscription to Mad Woman at the link below, and they can upgrade to the Writing Group with their own method of payment.

I really wish the platform made this easier!

Thanks! When I follow this link, it says a gift subscription is $70/year. Does the sale not apply there?

Expand full comment

It should! Follow the sale link above (the one in this post) and then toggle over to “gift” subscription (at the top it defaults to “individual” subscriptions, but you can also click “group” or “gift”). I just did it to be sure and the sale showed up for me for gift subscriptions. Let me know how it goes!

Gift sub link still said $70, and when I click over to 'Group' it is stuck on the loading screen. I will try again another time.

Make sure you use the discount link in this post. The gift link I posted in the comments might be mucking things up (but I just updated that link for you too).

Ah ok, done, thanks! I think the trick was I had to log out of substack first or it kept trying to apply it to me.
