Read this in my car parked outside my office and definitely uttered the phrase "OH SHIT" out loud to no one multiple times. Any author who unapologetically unpacks sex and motherhood while also casually using the expression "down to clown" has my $25!
This line: "I spent many years separating my experiences to make a more palatable story. I’m not going to do that anymore." YES. Have been thinking a lot about narrative and its linear format and how very male it is. We need more circumference in writing, and I love that you highlighted her work in that regard. Beautiful.
I've had to read this interview several times already just because it hit hard in so many different ways. That one in particular, as a writer, . . . I hardly even have the words to say how it finally makes sense of a bunch of different experiences and interactions I've had. And life as a mom/wife/human in general . . . whew.
I recently read All of This (I've read Rebecca Woolf's stuff for years) and I was amazed at this book. Couldn't put it down kind of a read for me. Just so honest and unflinching about having so many different parts of one's self that make us whole. I'm so glad she wrote this book - both for her and for us. I have so much to say but don't know where to start. Anyway thanks for this piece.

Came here to say ALL THESE EXACT THINGS. So fucking good
Right?

Yes, I love the way Rebecca talks about keeping our stories from going soft. And you really feel the multiple climaxes in the book.

Yes! It’s such a beautiful book
same. haven't read the book yet but this interview alone gives us so much to ponder and unpack.
I have no words for how powerful this interview is. Thank you.
I love it too!
