Reading this felt like soul food. I find I’m craving reading other authors experience of their launch, perhaps to feel less alone in my feelings about my own.
But mostly, I’m so happy for you in this new phase that is overwhelming and messy but also expansive. You wrote a beautiful raw poetic and unflinching (second) book! It’s on my bedside waiting for me to decide which questions I’ll ask you about it :) :)
Oh my god all of this so much so hard. (When my book came out and was excerpted in the Times London there was an entire group tweeting at the CIA calling for my arrest over killing my husband not even kidding!) You are brilliant and we are so lucky to have you. When you write with the power that you do, there are always gonna be people who try to stop you. But guess Fuckin what mother fuckers. Ya can’t.
this is so smart and thoughtful, and we are so lucky to have you doing the work you are doing.
(and wow, our experiences run parallel in so many ways--my first book came out when my 2nd kid was like 4 months old and we'd just moved to a new part of the country and I had so much anxiety about stuff I was supposed to be doing, but I had no idea how and kind of no one to help me!)
"Online harassment, though, of this sort is more than evidence of people’s inability to engage with complex ideas. It’s always a disciplinary tactic meant to dissuade people from speaking and appearing in public life with any sort of complexity— or, you know, at all." <---- THIS
Isn’t it fucking great to be a critical, questioning, curious, competent woman and mother with the capacity to distinguish between violent, hateful rhetoric aimed at reinforcing patriarchy and kind, caring conversation aimed at dismantling it?
Thank you for your words and voice, seriously sorry for the violence, and so happy to play a small part in giving you a little dose of gratitude and love and care in your launch❤️.
And thank you for the shout-out in your post today--lots of new folks coming my way because of it for which I’m grateful🙏🏽🙏🏽

I unfortunately do know who Matt Walsch. Hurl. You’re a great thinker and a smart, nuanced writer. Thanks for sharing that.
