June Reading Group
If you do decide to join us over on the paid side, it’s time to vote on our next essay for Reading Group! I’ve pulled a few options from reader suggestions that feel timely, but also like they’ll give us a good base to expand on later.
The poll feature below is wonky and won’t let me list the full titles and authors of the essays, so here the options are in full, just be sure to vote below:
“The Space Crone” by Ursula K. Le Guin— on aging, aliens, and gender.
“Professions for Women” by Virginia Woolf— in which Woolf argues all women writers must kill the Angel in the House.
“The Laugh of the Medusa” by Hélène Cixous— on a “feminine” mode of writing, very French.
I have about a thousand other ideas for essays we can/should read by these and many other authors, but these came up a few times in your suggestions, so let’s start here for this month, and please add more to the list in the comments below as you see fit.
You can check out what we do in the Reading Group here. We also have live Zooms every month, which have been a true joy.
In the meantime, I’ll be back in your inbox tomorrow with some very big exciting news, so be on the lookout!
OH MY GOD SPACE CRONE. We have to read Space Crone.
Low-key wanting all of these readings. They sound so good!
