Last week, the first-ever Golden Bachelor couple, Gerry and Theresa, announced they are divorcing after three months of marriage. In their interview with Juju Chang for ABC, they were both thoughtful and optimistic. They held hands and talked about how much they still love and support each other, while explaining that their lives in different cities are not compatible. They want to prioritize their individual happiness, they said, and are too old to pretend their relationship is working, if it isn’t.
Everyone’s mad at them anyway. Chang embodied the outrage, asking the couple in her interview, “What the heck guys?”
