The Mad Woman summer reading list is here! Check out the list, which includes recs from me and your fellow subscribers. Purchase any books you want from the list using the Bookshop link and a portion of that purchase price will go into our donation pot. If you want to add more books to the list, drop them here.
All affiliate proceeds from the books you purchase before Sept 1 will be donated to Al Otro Lado, which provides free and direct legal and humanitarian support to refugees, deportees, and other migrants on both sides of the US-Mexico border and beyond.
End-of-summer Camp
In August, I’m offering a virtual Care for Writers End-of-Summer Camp. It’s for writers who are looking for dedicated time to write, some guidance in the form of generative writing prompts, and community— perfect to round out a summer of writing, or to get going again if you haven’t been writing as much as you wanted this summer.
Because it’s a summer camp for grownup writers, we’ll emphasize creative play and friends. We’ll start each of our four sessions with a short, inspiring reading and a brief craft discussion. Then I’ll give you a writing prompt based on the reading— something you can really sink into, either to continue an ongoing project like a book or proposal, or to generate new work. After we write, we’ll chat about any questions that come up, and then your parents can pick you up… I mean, then we’ll sign off Zoom! We’ll also have two special guest writers visit class, TBA.
There is no workshop component to this course and no homework. Just show up and generate new work.
This class meets every Monday in August from 4pm-6pm PT/ 7pm-10pm ET on Zoom. If you need to miss part of a class, or a whole class, all good. You’ll get the readings and prompts sent your email inbox.
The class is open to writers at all stages, in all genres, and is perfect for both new and returning students. Hope to see many of you there!
Paid subscribers get $20 off the class. You can find the coupon code below the paywall.
