It’s been an incredibly rough week, friends. I wasn’t due to start up these Writing Group weekly chats again until later this month, but it felt important to get our new year thread going, because the solace I’m finding— amid fire and the end of a shared world based in fact and the impending administration and the continuation of all the mess and violence we saw last year—is in art and in community.
Fortunately, this group offers us both.
So, use this space to share your artistic or creative goals for the year and/or how you are thinking about the idea of setting goals/intentions this year. If you are struggling to begin this year with that sort of direction, please feel free to share that, too.
I have been thinking, for instance, quite a bit about the difficulty of making plans amidst so much uncertainty—and the importance of doing it anyway.
But I’d love to hear from all of you what you’re hoping to create this year, and how you are grounding yourself. What’s keeping you going, inspiring you, or helping you see your creative practice and goals in a new light?
