On that note...
What I'm watching and listening to that is not the debate— and a reminder to upgrade your subscription!
Well, that was awful. Icymi, the debate last night was a nightmare, SCOTUS continues to be a nightmare, and America feels like this. It’s bad.
On that note! As I mentioned last week, I’m turning on my away message and heading out of this space through July:
I may pop in here in July for one call for sources for a piece I’m working on— but otherwise, it’ll be quiet here while I’m working on my next book, attending to some big life stuff, catching up on reading and being a person, having a little pre-election menty B, and hanging with my kids at the community pool. I really hope you can get away, too, whatever that means to you. We all need it.
Before I go, here’s another reminder to upgrade your subscription before the price jumps up.
On August 1, the price of Mad Woman will increase to $7/month or $70/year.
Current paid subscribers, don’t fret. As a thank you for supporting Mad Woman, you will continue to pay just $5 per month or $50 per year—forever. And that includes anyone who subscribes before July 31.
If you’ve been thinking about becoming a paid subscriber, do it now to lock in the lower rate forever.
A paid subscription gets you behind every essay paywall, weekly book and culture recs, commenting privileges, threads, and discounts on my writing classes. I’m also planning to do more paid subscriber chats and events. We are going to need a supportive, creative, feminist space in the fall. I can feel it.
Oh, and paid subscribers are the only reason this newsletter exists, which is not nothing!
Again, current subscribers, new subscription pricing does not impact you. You are locked into your (lower!) price forever. Thank you for all the support. You make everything possible.
Write like a madwoman with Writing Group
If you’d like to upgrade to our fantastic, supportive Writing Group, which just keeps getting better and better, you’ll get even more good stuff (weekly accountability chats, writing prompts, craft essays, reading lists, bigger discounts on classes, AND two virtual retreats a year). Until July 31, Writing Group is just $150, which is a steal for a full year of literary community, craft guidance, events, and inspiration.
(If you’re already a regular annual subscriber, your $50 will be deducted from the upgrade, which means the Writing Group is just $100 for you.)
